Community Service
Partners for Eternity
Students are encouraged to participate in Partners for Eternity. A mentor program that connect senior citizens to youth.
Community Emergency Response Team (CERT)Training
In February 2018 a group of fourteen students and teachers completed a 20 hour CERT training course. All of the attendees passed their test and obtained a CERT certificate.
In Oct 2018 a group of 5 students and 2 teachers spent 3 days in Panama City, Fl assisting victims of Hurricane Michael setting up and volunteering at a point of distribution center.
Family Groups
Every Friday students also learn character traits that promote healthy relationships and lifestyles. Students benefit from the small groups structure and peer to peer connections.
Local Missions
Students will be able to go out for short term service opportunities.
Beacon Academy high school students are invited to attend a 4 day workbee at a local mission.
First Aid/CPR Certified
Beacon is blessed to have a CPR/First Aid instructor on site. As an added benefit all students over the age of 14 completed an 8 hour certification course for First Aid and CPR.
Feb 2018 Awards for Design Challenge
Beacon Academy students were awarded two first place trophies in a design challenge through BrightSpark for their idea TrafficFree, an app designed to alleviate some of the traffic in Chattanooga on the highways by encouraging commuters to take back-roads and side-streets offering them points toward earning monetary rewards. The team comprised of 7-10th grader won awards for Best Overall and Peoples Choice.
